Website News: Launch of Two New Refugee Innovation Projects (2026–2027)
Empowering Refugee Communities Through Innovation and Digital Skills
We are excited to announce the launch of two new flagship initiatives for 2026–2027 aimed at strengthening refugee inclusion, innovation and future employment opportunities across the UK: Refugee Innovation Labs: Co-Designing Solutions for Integration and the Refugee Digital Skills & Future Work Accelerator.
Together, these programmes represent a major step forward in supporting refugees and asylum seekers to shape their futures, develop practical skills and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
Refugee Innovation Labs: Co-Designing Solutions for Integration
The Refugee Innovation Labs programme brings refugees, community organisations, researchers and policymakers together to co-create practical solutions to real-world integration challenges. Through a series of regional innovation labs and collaborative workshops, participants will design and pilot community-led projects addressing barriers such as employment access, language learning and social connection.
The initiative places lived experience at the centre of innovation. Refugees will receive mentoring, small prototype grants and opportunities to present their ideas to decision-makers through public showcases and policy roundtables. By the end of 2027, the programme aims to generate scalable community solutions while strengthening partnerships between refugee communities and local institutions.
Refugee Digital Skills & Future Work Accelerator
The Refugee Digital Skills & Future Work Accelerator focuses on preparing refugees for the rapidly evolving digital economy. The programme offers structured training in essential digital competencies, emerging technologies and future-oriented employment skills.
Participants will engage in hands-on learning in areas such as digital literacy, online collaboration tools, basic coding, entrepreneurship and remote work readiness. The accelerator also connects participants with mentors, employers and innovation hubs to support pathways into employment, freelancing and social enterprise.
By equipping refugees with in-demand digital skills and career guidance, the accelerator aims to reduce employment barriers and promote long-term economic independence.
Looking Ahead
These two initiatives reflect a shared commitment to inclusive innovation, community leadership and sustainable integration. By combining co-designed solutions with future-focused digital training, the programmes will help refugees build confidence, skills and opportunities for lasting impact.
Further updates, participant stories and programme milestones will be shared throughout 2026–2027 as the projects progress.
