Focus: Refugee entrepreneurship and community-led service innovation.
Engagement:
RRIN mapped and engaged 50+ refugee-owned businesses across healthcare, catering, technology, and consultancy. Participatory workshops explored barriers to growth, service access, and economic contribution.
Example:
Ahmed, a Somali entrepreneur in Birmingham, launched a culturally informed health advice service, helping refugees access preventive healthcare, mental health support, and health education. Over 300 community members received guidance.
Economic & Social Impact:
Refugee-led enterprises created jobs, contributed to local tax revenue, and strengthened community resilience. RRIN also documented how misinformation about refugees reduces trust, limits service uptake, and slows economic integration—highlighting the need for evidence-based interventions.
